Litzenberg Memorial Woods (north side) is scheduled to close for construction on February 5, 2024 and reopen on May 25, 2024 (subject to change). When the contractor is ready to mobilize, large signs will be posted at the entrances along with barricades. Until then, enjoy the park.

Construction will include the removal and replacement of the entrance driveway, parking lot, and pedestrian walkways. An additional parking lot will be developed. New site amenities, such as picnic tables, benches, trash receptacles, recycle bins, and grills will follow. Some of the picnic tables and benches have already been removed from the park in preparation for construction.

The south side of Litzenberg Memorial Woods will be unaffected by the construction. It will remain open for outdoor recreation. A portable restroom facility will be on site for as long as the north side is closed. Wood benches are at the trailheads and along backcountry trails. The Heritage Trail, Southland Trail, and Wetlands Trail afford a nice escape and an enjoyable walk.
