Hike in the Prairie
June 1 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
FreeToday is National Prairie Day. To celebrate, we will hike through the prairie on the south side of Litzenberg Memorial Woods, look for the many plants and animals that call the prairie home, such as big bluestem, chickweed geometer moths, and Eastern Bluebirds, and talk about the prairie habitat: what makes the prairie habitat unique, why prairies are in trouble, and how prairies are managed in the Hancock Park System. We will hike a portion of the Southland Trail (flat terrain with grass surface) for approximately 2 miles. Depending on the weather, the trail might be wet.
