The Great Bear and the Bird Hunters: A Native American Constellation (8:30 PM)
October 23 @ 8:30 pm - 8:50 pm
Native Americans had their own constellations with their own unique stories. The Great Bear and the Bird Hunters is a constellation of the Micmac and other Iroquois tribes of Eastern Canada. Come and listen to the story of the constellation as it rotates in the sky throughout the year. We will also take a look at the present-day constellations, stars, and other space objects that make up this constellation. After the show in our portable planetarium, take home a constellation wheel kit that will help you track the constellation throughout the year. Each 20-minute program will be limited to individual family groups from the same household. Participants are required to sit on the floor. Ask about accommodations. Please wait in the entryway of the Discovery Center until you are let inside for your time slot.
All ages are welcome.
One individual family group from the same household of up to 9 people per time slot.
