Maple Tree Tapping
March 9 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pmFree
As the last days of winter are starting to warm and the sun shines longer it is time to tap maple trees. Tapping is the process of removing and collecting sap from a maple tree to be used in the creation of maple syrup and sugar. Information will be presented about how to identify maple trees, why this is the only time of the year to tap trees, and the type of tools needed. We will then go on a short hike to tap some trees. Children and adults will have an opportunity to drill a tap into a tree by using a tool called a bit and brace.
