Horn: The Plastic of 1847
August 26 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
FreeBefore the invention of plastic, animal horn was used in many products as it is strong, lightweight, waterproof, and easy to work with. It was the job of the Horner to create goods using horn, antlers, and sometimes bone. Come out to the McKinnis farm to learn all about the craft of the Horner. Learn about the process of working with horn, view some goods made for horns and antlers, and watch a horner demonstration of creating a comb. Children who visit the Horner will receive a button that can be made into a craft or to use at home.
