Litzenberg Memorial Woods – Public Notice

  • Posted by Hancock Parks
  • Categories Park News
  • Date December 21, 2022

Litzenberg Memorial Woods (north side) will be closed for construction beginning June 1, 2023. Construction will include the removal and replacement of the entrance driveway, parking lot, and pedestrian walkways. Other improvements will occur. New site amenities, such as picnic tables, benches, trash receptacles, recycle bins, and grills will follow. Some of the picnic tables and benches have already been removed from the park in preparation for construction. The park is scheduled to reopen in the fall.

The south side of Litzenberg Memorial Woods will be unaffected by the construction. It will remain open for outdoor recreation. A restroom facility will be on site for as long as the north side is closed. Wood benches will be located at trailheads and along backcountry trails. The Heritage Trail, Southland Trail, and Wetlands Trail afford a nice escape and an enjoyable walk.
