Registration open for Homeschoolers in the Park

Homeschoolers in the Park – Spring

Continuing for its 7th year is a series for homeschooled students. The spring session will consist of a series of seven classes from March to June. The 5–8-year-old homeschoolers will be exploring habitats and the plants and animals that live in them including hikes through the ecosystems at Oakwoods Nature Preserve. The 9–12-year-old homeschoolers will explore the world of exoskeletons which will include a kayak trip on the Blanchard River to see what exoskeletons we can find.  The classes will take place outdoors in nature as often as possible. Students will make friends and gain confidence, utilize problem solving skills and independent thinking, and have fun! The sessions will take place at a variety of Hancock County’s parks. The first class will take place at Oakwoods Nature Preserve, Discovery Center.  A schedule for where we will meet for future classes will be passed out at the first meeting date. In the 10-11:30 AM class, children are required to be ages 5-8 and in the 1:30-3 PM class they are required to be ages 9-12 by the start of the first class in the series.  Register with $30 per child for the series.

Teen Homeschoolers in the Park – Spring

Continuing this year is outdoor recreation for teen homeschooled students. The Spring session will consist of a series of six classes from March to May. Teens will engage is active outdoor adventures which may include hiking, kayaking, disk golf, archery, bird watching, and more. The sessions will take place outdoors in nature as often as possible. The goal of the classes is to introduce teens to outdoor recreation activities while they are in a safe, enjoyable environment where they can make friends and have fun.  The sessions will take place at a variety of Hancock County’s parks. Choose from either the 10-11:30 AM or the 1:30-3 PM session. Teen are required to be ages 12-18 by the start of the first class in the series.  The first class will meet at Oakwoods Nature Preserve, Discovery Center.  A schedule for where we will meet for future classes will be passed out at the first meeting date. Register with $30 per child for the series.
